Hey hey! WHAT?! It’s February! Oh Man, 2019 is flying by already.
OK, So, lots to cover…..
Many of you know that at the end of January I went to California for a photo workshop (and to see family and friends). If it’s me going to CA, it’s a whirlwind, you can be sure. I try to pack in as many things and friends as I can! As well as the beach and See’s candy, haha.
My trip started out kind of weird in that my plane leaving South Carolina needed to be DE-ICED! It had been pretty cold here in the mornings, but I wasn’t thinking that would ever happen here! Unfortunately, that made us pretty late, and I almost didn’t make my connection! I was in full speed walk/run through the airport, and thankfully made my flight!
When I got to CA, it was full speed ahead. Lunch with a good friend, then on the freeway to sit in Friday traffic. (1 hour to go 17 miles, yeah, that hasn’t changed)
Checked in to my first AirBnB. (Really good experience actually) Then dinner with another good friend.
The Photo Workshop!
Our photo workshop was in this really cool building in the Art District in Pomona. The space was really light and open, with cool exposed brick and big windows. We all were so happy to be there and meet! What a great group of women. Jana was so gracious to host us, and share her knowledge and props. We pretty much got started shooting right away. I learned a few things, and was surprised that I found I knew more than I give myself credit for. I think the number one thing I need to work on is styling, and I know that will come with time and props. I am pretty limited at this point in time. I didn’t shoot a ton, mostly asked questions, and watched people style. Many of my shots were primarily of set-ups to study.
I have to say that the most mind-blowing, huge transformation for me was the second day, at Jana’s house, where we did business goal-setting, and a Mastermind. I believe we are given messages, that we are put in places, and are with people to learn and grow as people, and as spiritual beings. When the message is right there in your face over and over, everywhere you turn, you pretty much have to pay attention! 🙂
For me this message is NOT to believe limiting thoughts about myself! I CAN do this!
Listen, I could go on and on about every detail, but for me, setting a goal for my photo business to do well enough for me to retire from doing hair (or even just down to one day a week- don’t freak out people), is feeling so totally doable, and when I see on paper, all of the facts that back up me making that goal, I feel so inspired and empowered! The whole experience really opened my mind to options, locations, and ideas! I have actionable steps to take, and a cool group of women to keep me on track, and accountable. I am so grateful to Jana and Abby for hosting us, and I really did learn a lot!
After the workshop, I went to Oceanside to see my sister! I love her house, and always feel so at home there. We have fun, that’s for sure! Always great to see the kids, and I finally got to meet my nephew’s babies!! 💕 I went to the beach to say hello to the Pacific, and get some beach shots, then went to my other nephew’s surfboard shop, where he is a shaper, and surfboard maker! Wow, how cool that was! I was able to watch him work AND take photos! SO COOL! I can’t wait to get those edited for him and ME!
That night was dinner and fun at the house with my best friend and her daughter!
The next morning I drove the coast North to Orange County, of COURSE stopping for See’s candy! 🙌🏼 Then to another long-time good friend’s house. I’m very blessed to have good friends for 30 and 40 years! They mean the world to me, and are the ones I can not see for 3-5 years, but pick right back up with and know we are still the same inside, and have all these shared live experiences.
The only bad part about the whole trip was getting a cold that last night before I flew home. Ugh.. had to go to the store at 6 am to get kleenex, cold meds, and nose spray to survive a good 8 hour travel day. But I did, and made it home with a new sense of purpose, and a crappy cold. haha
So fast forward 2 weeks, and this cold is JUST NOW giving up after zapping that momentum I had. I have managed to finish a Valentine’s day photo bundle, some new mock ups, work at the salon, and rest up in spite of feeling crappy.
I know I’ve gone on too long, but I wanted to catch up, and show some of the trip photos and Valentines photos.
I have a bundle of 13 V-Day photos up in my shop now. Click HERE to go see!
I have more photos to share soon, and more bundles coming too.
Thank you for being here.
In gratitude,
Kelly
